Mini-Review- Bah, Humbug, by Heather Horrocks

On the First Day of Christmas, Rachel gave to thee... a mini review of Bah, Humbug!, by Heather Horrocks... (and a partridge in a pear tree)

  • Lexi Anderson is an up-and-coming TV Hostess (Martha Stewart style), with two kids who love the Jared Strong adventure novels, written by their new neighbour Kyle Miller.
  • Kyle has writer's block- he doesn't know how his latest Jared Strong novel will end, and his deadline is coming up fast. He's having to work through the Christmas holidays to get the book finished; not that he likes Christmas anyway.
  • The two meet in a disagreement over a snowman, become friends, and get all Christmassy together... there's some stuff about creating a sense of family too.
  • A sweet story, with nicely formed characters, and enough chance/convenience to make the story pull together without being unbelievable.
  • A few cheesy moments- like the naming symbolism part. If it wasn't nearly Christmas, cynical and sarcastic me wouldn't be able to cope with that level of cheese.
  • 6.5 Christmas trees

Free ice cream and beer for all who comment! Ok, that's a promise I can't keep. Maybe a hug if we ever meet in the real world... or just leave your twitter handle and I'll send you a virtual one? Maybe.
Anyway, I'm grateful that you took the time to comment. You are indeed mighty witty.
